Seattle Storm

If your grandchild plays basketball or enjoys womens’ sports, take him or her to a game for inspiration and maybe even some role models. The Storm’s NBA counterpart, the Supersonics, have moved away for good, making these women the only professional hoops in town. The world’s best female cagers put on a good show and play a fundamentally sound game that is focused more on strategy and execution rather than aerial acrobatics — much like when your grandchildren play.

Seattle Mariners

An old wag once said that no sport could jam pack a half hour’s worth of action into three hours the way baseball can. Fortunately, Seattle’s major league team has the Children’s Hospital Playfield for kids who can’t sit still that long. The area features a playground, wishing well and kids’ concessions. If you’re a fan you can play with the grandchildren and still watch the game. The team also offers discounted tickets on Monday nights and family packages on Wednesday nights.
